Mr. Charlton Giles

It is my pleasure to serve as the principal at Glencoe High School. My vision is to make GHS an elite school where all students are given many opportunities to be successful.  Each of us should set high expectations in all areas to challenge our students to be the best they can be.  In the years to come it is my goal to see the standards raised in what we are doing academically, in every athletic program, and in all extracurricular activities.  The students of Glencoe High School deserve to have educators, coaches, and community leaders that demand excellence.

I am beginning my 27th year in education.  I received my Bachelors, Masters, and Educational Specialist Degrees from Jacksonville State University.  I  began my teaching career at Disque Middle School and also coached several different athletic teams between Disque and Gadsden High.  My first administrative position was at Litchfield High School where I served as the Assistant Principal for 3 years.  I was then promoted and served as the Principal of Floyd Elementary for 3 years.  Next, I became the Principal of Pleasant Valley High School where I served for 5 years.  This is my 11th year as Principal of Glencoe High School.

My wife, Donna, and I have two daughters, Anna Beth and Katie.  We are members of Twelfth Street Baptist Church.  My family and I are truly excited  to be a part of the Glencoe Community.
